I am fascinated by the human connection to time and our continuous struggle to find a sense of self suspended somewhere between past and future.
My work is an exploration of the human vulnerabilities that we often ignore, the things we often deny ourselves the time or space to reflect upon.
The use of minimal colour and subtlety in each piece enables a feeling of purity that is free from the clutter of the inconsequential. I aim to provide a space for reflection, evoking thoughts that lie hidden below the surface of consciousness, where the viewer is invited to quietly contemplate their own life.
Genesis is defined as; The origin, start or point at which something comes into being.
I am interested in exploring the idea of the moments before genesis, the build up that enables something to come into being. The things that lie dormant awaiting their moment to ‘be’. The words ‘a latent state of potentiality’ represent our prospective future, the promises we hope for and the possibilities that could occur. It questions what it is that we allow to exist in an underdeveloped state and whether we have the capacity to fulfill them.
